I Spent This Year As A Ghost

2016

Synopsis

An Angry Greek. Unbearable Truths. Numerous Polaroids. Alien Abduction. Horseradish.

Chesney Buzznut is 21 years old today.

Like many millenials, Chesney is completely, totally, hopelessly lost in life. Stuck inbetween a generation who made sure no one after them got anything, and a generation born in the right place at the right time, Chesney struggles to find footing in a debt-burdened existence.

With the aid of his closest friend and alcoholic actress Marie Wan-K, the pair philosophise, try their hand at karaoke, seduce a cake, and do the cha cha slide – all whilst trying to get over their own personal horrors…

How often have you found yourself “ghosting” through life after a terrible event?

You’re still here. You’re still you. You’re the real thing.

As with a lot of my work, GHOST had an underlying political voice. Whereas #WALLPAPER focused on the experiences of women, GHOST was a personal story of being a millenial in the crumbling economy of the UK.

Super-liberal and anti-baby boomers, the voice of GHOST rejects the ideas that children should be seen and not heard, that we should always, undoubtedly, unquestionably respect our elders.

Respect is always earned, and never given.
